what I did
- The auction lifecycle: publishing lots, bidding, determining the winner when time runs out
- Bidder registration and accounts
- Administration: lots, users, auction settings
- The frontend in Laravel templates and JavaScript
a technical detail
Most of the work went into bid state: who currently leads, what the minimum next bid is, and how bids arriving in the final second are handled. That has to be unambiguous both on the server and in what the bidder sees.
