Messaging app
A chat app where each participant reads messages in their own language. Text is corrected and translated per recipient, and voice messages are transcribed, translated and re-spoken in the listener's language. The name is not published.
what I did
- The real-time layer: Socket.IO rooms, typing states, read receipts, a presence heartbeat
- The text pipeline: correction, translation, delivery; the original is always kept
- The voice pipeline: ffmpeg, transcription, translation, speech synthesis
- One React codebase for three targets: web, Electron (desktop) and Capacitor (mobile)
a technical detail
A message is stored and delivered immediately in its original language; translation runs in the background and arrives afterwards. If the translation service is slow or down, the message is neither delayed nor lost.
